Davido speaks on those who accused him of Tagbo's death

Singer, Davido says he has forgiven those who accused him of complicity in the death of his friend, Tagbo Umeike. Davido has made headlines the last fortnight, over the deaths of Tagbo and DJ Olu. Actress Caroline Danjuma had accused him of being involved in the demise of the former. Davido has been to the police station for questioning and released CCTV footage of the night Tagbo died. The OBO crooner has now said it is time to move on and “get back to the music”. He wrote on Snapchat: “Thank you Jesus” before calling out “persons that said false things about me or accused me of what I don’t know.” Davido continued: “I sincerely forgive you.. and God bless you. We move on. Let’s all be better. Thank you Lord.”

Labour rejects Zuma statue in Owerri demands its pulled down

UNITED Labour Congress of Nigeria, ULC, has rejected the erection of statue of President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, in Owerri by Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, including naming a street in the state capital after Zuma. While demanding that the statue be pulled down, ULC described honouring of Zuma by the governor as highly insensitive and contemptuous of not only the people of Imo State but also possess the dangers to Nigeria if not roundly condemned and excoriated by well-meaning Nigerians. Jacob Zuma’s statue in Imo ULC in a statement by its President, Mr Joe Ajaero, urged the people of Imo State and other patriotic Nigerians who feel outraged over this act to immediately demand that Okorocha should pull down the infamous statue. Agbakoba begs court to remove Buhari as petroleum minister

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, has urged the Federal High Court in Abuja to restrain President Muhammadu Buhari from continuing to hold the office of the Minister of Petroleum Resources. The SAN contends that Section 138 of the 1999 Constitution forbids the President from “holding any other executive office or paid employment.” Besides, he argued that Buhari was not screened for the ministerial job by the Senate as required by the constitution. Agbakoba urged the court to determine “whether by virtue of Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution, the President can hold the office of the Minister of Petroleum Resources without confirmation by the Senate of the National Assembly.” He said as a legal practitioner with 40 years experience and having checked the constitution, he was convinced that Buhari could not legally hold the office of the Minister of Petroleum Resources and prayed the court to sack him.
