NASS,NANS gives Lagos State government 7 days ultimatum to pay 2016/2017 bursary

…The Bursary will be paid this month – SA, Education National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS) and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos axis, have called on Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Akinwunmi Ambode to pay the State Bursary and scholarship dues for Lagosian schooling all over the federation.  As failure to pay the dues within seven days, according to them will result to a peaceful protest to the state governor’s office in Alausa, Ikeja.  In a statement signed Daniju Sultan, NASS president and Moses Adewale, NANS Joint Committee Chairman, respectively, the bodies said that the inability of the state government to pay the above dues have caused untold hardships for the students in not paying their fess and buying of study materials.  Their statement reads, “Your Excellency, we are compelled to notify you of our resolution to hit the streets of Lagos and cause peaceful civil disobedience in protest of non-payment of our bursary and ...

OGUN state loses 5bn monthly revenue-Gov Amosun

G ov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun on Monday disclosed that the state was losing between N3 billion and N5 billion as revenue monthly from haphazard toll collection.  The governor said this at the inauguration of harmonisation of haulage revenue collection in state, in Abeokuta. The event, with the theme: `Harmonisation Eradicating Multiplicity in Haulage Revenue Collection’, was attended by top officials of security agencies, stakeholders in transport and haulage sector.  Also in attendance were chairmen of local governments and local council development authorities in the state. Amosun lamented the huge loss of revenue by the state due to unorganised toll revenue collection, saying the new scheme would address the identified inadequacies of the former method.
